Outdated information on book? What to look for?

i recently loaned a book "MICROSOFT VISUAL C++ .NET TRAINER KIT" from my local library in learning purpose. I started to read it page by page making great progress until i noticed hand written note from the flipside of the cover, apparently made by more experienced reader.

"Warning: The "managed c++" part in this book contains outdated information about C++/CLI"

The book has been printed in 2002 if i understood the info correctly and it is first print. And the original release name is "Microsoft Visual C++ .NET Step by Step."(Im from Finland you see.) I searched with that name and found nothing releated to my consern.

So is the book like super outdated and i should not use it because with my current knowledge i probably wont notice if something is wrong.
